Deliverable 5.6

Abstract: Proceedings on first integration workshop (March 25, 2010)

The REFRESH Project includes a specific task dedicated to integration between work packages. This bridging task will facilitate knowledge and data transfer between knowledge and data transfer, and integration between WP1 (scenarios), WP2-4 (ecology), WP5 (modelling), WP6 (cost-effectiveness) and WP7 (dissemination) and in particular between WPs 2-4 and WP5. The task will provide a framework for the synthesis of the results from different WPs by linking adaptive management strategies and biological indicators through modelling at different scales. A workshop was planned, to be held in Year 1 to transfer information on key ecological indicators, thresholds and the controlling factors from the reviews done in WP2-4 to 5. A workshop at the end of Year 3 will be held to exchange ideas and experimental results between WP2-4 and 5. Identification of surrogates, namely taxa and metrics that are expected to behave in the same way, will be carried out so that links can be drawn between data available in the demonstration catchments and the WP2-4 experiments.

The first Integration workshop was held on the last day of the REFRESH kick-off meeting (March 25, 2010 in Antalya). The objective of this Integration workshop was to facilitate knowledge and data transfer between strategies and scenarios of WP1, advances on ecological processes of WP’s 2-4, integrated modelling of WP5 and adaptive management of WP6. The ‘Bridging Group’ (see those present) finalised agreements on the transfer information on key ecological indicators, thresholds and the controlling factors from the reviews undertaken in WP2-4 to WP5. This deliverable comprises minutes from the workshop and provides a record of the decisions made.

This is essentially an internal deliverable which provides a record of discussions on approaches to ensure effective integration between the component parts of the Project.
