Calibrated version of INCA-C

This report describes the development and testing of the Integrated Catchment Model of Carbon (INCA−C). Understanding the mechanisms for, and future effects of, changing DOC concentrations and fluxes are important for: (i) impacts on drinking water quality, (ii) effects on carbon export from the terrestrial environment to the oceans, especially the Arctic Ocean and (iii) transport and pool sizes of environmental contaminants associated with the movement and storage of DOC, especially mercury (Hg). Preliminary calibration and testing results show that the model is able to simulate the observed seasonal and inter−annual variations in stream−water DOC concentrations in two, small Canadian river−systems. Further work is necessary to improve the simulation of the hydrology and carbon transport during storm−events. Future plans are presented.
