Adaptive Strategies to Mitigate the Impacts of Climate Change on European Freshwater Ecosystems

In WP 3 task 1, UU−BIO studies the potential interaction between global warming and wetland eutrophication. The general research question in this task is: Will higher temperatures associated with climate change interact with eutrophication? UU−BIO studies this in paired wetland sites in Iceland, for nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) eutrophication. Effects of eutrophication on plants (performance, biodiversity, nutrient concentrations) are the main focus of the study. This report presents preliminary results from the paired wetlands study in Iceland.
